False Cape State Park

First Landing State Park in the Chesapeake Bay
As a registered National Landmark (originally called the Seashore State Park), First Landing State Park is the most visited state park in the area. First Landing State Park itself has 2,888 acres that front the Chesapeake Bay, has 1.25 miles of beach, and includes the famous 7.5 miles Cape Henry Trail.
There are over 19 hiking trails, and you can encounter salt marsh, freshwater ponds, beaches, dunes, forests, tidal marsh, and cypress swamp. And you can camp at First Landing State Park as well as one of the 200 campsites in the back dunes or beachfront.
Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge
With over 9,000 acres in the park, you will find barrier islands, dunes, beach woodland, freshwater marshes, maritime forest, ponds, and Atlantic Ocean beaches. It is truly a wonder to behold and enjoy! When you want to embrace nature and enjoy losing yourself in the wilderness for an afternoon, this wildlife refuge is the place to go.
